We are looking forward to supporting the Making Waves in Science lecture as part of the University of the West of Scotland series of Inspiring Women events in February.
This is the 3rd of 4 planned lectures akp are headline sponsor of. The events have been planned and implemented by UWS for students, schools and professionals focusing on inspiring the next generation of females.
Speaker – Professor Sheila Rowan, MBE, Chief Scientific Adviser for the Scottish Government. Responsible for informing policy development, working closely with the Scottish Science Advisory Council, Prof Rowan was awarded her MBE in recognition of her pioneering work detecting gravitational waves. Prof Rowan led one of the teams who contributed to the international LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) collaboration. Awarded as a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, Prof Rowan is in esteemed company joining the likes of Prof Jocelyn Bell Burnell, Prof Carole Jordan and Sir Isaac Newton.
