Art Noveau at Mercantile Chambers
Mercantile Chambers is a Grade A Listed building, designed by James Salmon Junior, in the heart of Glasgow’s central business district. The four female figures sculpted represent industry, prudence, prosperity and fortune. Mercury, roman god of skill, eloquence and trading sits above the entrance.
Following a successful office refurbishment project by akp, the MRC Pension Trust commissioned the company to complete major works to the envelope of the building. Taking into consideration that the building was art nouveau with an A listed façade we completed a total refurbishment of the windows, external stone and roof works. The building was live throughout and was carefully project managed to ensure minimum disruption to the tenants
