2023 saw akp continue to develop their presence within the Hotel & Leisure sector with the comprehensive refurbishment of the Delta Hotel Edinburgh. 245 guestrooms were refurbished at the Edinburgh property which also incorporated the refresh of associated corridors, several meeting rooms, public reception areas and the full leisure suite – all completed whilst the hotel remained occupied.

Due to the success of the Edinburgh project and further sample rooms at a second site akp were awarded the contract to refurbish over 300 guestrooms and associated corridors, creation of 4 ROI guestrooms and the refurbishment of the ground floor public areas, meeting rooms, restaurant, and leisure facilities at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel. Works are well underway with programmed to conclude By December 2024.

Marriott is a brand that has an exceptional reputation for quality and thanks to this, it has a hugely loyal customer base. The Argyle Street hotel is no different. Based at the heart of the Scottish Events Campus, the four-star hotel has 303 guestrooms across 13 floors with the location convenient for accessing the city centre, the foodie haunts of Finnieston, as well as Glasgow’s key events venues like the OVO Hydro and the SEC Armadillo.

Glasgow is a historic city with a rich industrial heritage – a home to manufacturing and business. It is also a modern cultural centre; a city where murals adorn historic buildings, and people are connected to a sense of place. With the River Clyde running through its heart, Glasgow is home to several bridges – a symbol of the link between past and present.

The city’s legacy in manufacturing – textiles, glass, and pottery – will inform the choice of materials and colour palette throughout. And finally, the architectural forms displayed in the city’s many bridges will inspire the form of various elements across each space. Throughout the city are an impressive collection of murals that adorn its buildings, adding colour and vibrancy to the cityscape. These murals are not only visually striking but also tell stories of local culture, creativity, and community spirit.

The artwork in the bedroom will be inspired by these murals and celebrate the city’s creativity and deep connection with people and places through art.

Behind the scenes just now, our team and resolute subcontractors are working tirelessly whilst the hotel remains occupied to renovate it to a stunning new space. Here is a glimpse of what you can expect from the gorgeous new look lobby when work is complete.
